1876 rebuild, but a church has stood on this site since at least 1154, when Robert of Essex placed the church with Prittlewell Priory, which he had recently founded. In the chancel the roof is reused work of c.1500 from the earlier church. A north aisle was planned but not built as can be seen from the blind arcade.
