The nave was built in the 11th or early in the 12th century, and the chancel re-built in the 14th century. The tower was re-built early in the 16th century and the south porch added about a century later. The building was restored in the late 19th century when the vestry was added. The door at the entrance to the tower stairs is 15th century; there is ironwork on the south door which dates back to the 13th century; and the font (which is of Purbeck marble) is 12th century.
