Southminster - St Leonard

The church is a hodge-podge of alterations and add-ons. The nave was heightened in the 15th century using flint with clerestory windows (either side of the blue sundial dated 1814). Above that, a layer of red brick was added in 1819. The two huge transepts north and south were also added in 1819. Around this time the chancel was extended and a three sided sanctuary added, all covered in cement
