Mountnessing - St Giles

This striking Grade I listed church was originally built in the late 11th century but has been altered and restored many times since then. The west wall shown here was built in 1653. The north and south aisles were originally built during the 13th century, but were re-built in 1889 when the south porch was also built. The S-cramps are to secure the massive timbers of the bellfry.
