Berden - St Nicholas

Early English style of C13, the nave is Norman and the Chancel has been dated to around 1270. The two transepts would probably have been private family chapels belonging to Berden Hall and Berden Priory. The South Transept door way has now been blocked in but its windows date from the early 14th Century. The C15 three-stage tower is of Gothic Perpendicular style, added during the wealthier times of the wool trade.
