Beneath the painted ceiling, the entire east wall of the chancel displays two tiers of figures in canopied niches. The central Nativity scene is flanked by the four patron saints of the British Isles. Behind the high altar the dark panelling serves as a backdrop to a striking picture of the Annunciation.
