Most of the current building is 15th century although there are some Norman features. The tower and north chapel were added during the 16th century. The church was restored in the 19th century. The tower was built by Sir Stephen Beckingham at the same time as the Gate House of Beckingham Hall (situated about 200 yards north east of the church). It is built of red Tudor bricks with blue brick diapering.
