This church was built c. 1320 by Sir John Gifford, and there is an incomplete memorial brass to him in the sanctuary. Large parts of the church was re-built in the 16th century. The church is said to be haunted. The haunting tales include reports of the organ being played by unseen hands, and of odd electrical faults in cars nearby. Headlights flicker, and even brakes are rumoured to have failed! Strange unexplained shadows flicker over the site, thuds and whistles and the rattling of chains can be heard......
