Church End is the smaller, older part of Ashdon dating from pre-christian times. The Church was built in the 14th and 15th centuries on the site of an earlier church within the hamlet, but after the Black Death, habitation moved to what is now Ashdon, leaving the church isolated. Medieval stained glass windows have survived.
