The herringbone pattern of masonry in the chancel south wall suggest this church was begun before the Norman Conquest The most impressive feature is the massive Norman tower, without buttresses, and with two tiers of blanked out arches at the top. Apart from remnants of Saxon construction, the chancel and chancel chapel are mainly 14th century.
